The Wish List

Stevie Nicks' album is coming out on May 3rd of this year and I am literally counting down the days!  Its been two weeks since Nicks has announced to the world that she will be coming out with a new solo record, In Your Dreams.  Ever since I heard that announcement, I have been a little miss antsy pants wondering as to what songs could possibly be included on this upcoming album.

Look a few posts down and you will see that her new single Secret Love, which will be released on February 3rd, was "brought back to life" from a demo track that she recorded in the late 70's.  This leads me to speculate that Nicks may want to bring more songs back from the dead in her new album.

So, I've been pondering away and trying to think what songs Nicks may choose to put on this masterpiece.  She has made so many beautiful demos and to post them all on here would just be a bit...well nuts.  So, I will just give you my TOP 3 PICKS...this is going to be hard.

-WISH LIST for In Your Dreams-

1.) My Heart-I am still dumbfounded as to why this song was never included on an album. Listen to it and tell me that you don't get some kind of chill coursing through your body.  Play it at mark 2:52 onward and I'm a puddle on the floor its that good. This is by far, one of the most beautiful, truthful songs Nicks has ever written (in my opinion) Top of the wish list Macsters, top of the wish list...

"We stand alone like nothings changed...
After all these years, its still the same, and you are not to blame."

2) All the Kings Horses-Yes, I know when you first listen to this song you may all be thinking, "Whaaaaat is JDSkills thinking?" As you may already know,  I am a fan of demos and like the "unpolished" recordings of songs.  However, I can see how Nicks' can vamp up this song and give it more of a rockin' sound. The song really builds at mark 5:14 when Stevie is accompanied by her two backup singers, Lori Nicks and Sharon Celani.  I could play this song over and over again.  There is such great potential in this song and it deserves its time its in the spotlight!

" And we'll do it again tonight... one more time.
You put it back for me, and you always change my mind."

3.)  The Dealer-Man, this demo track has been buried for over thirty years and needs to see the light of day.  This demo track almost sounds as though it was inches away from being included on an album doesn't it?  You have Nicks recording harmonies with her backup singers, Sharon Celani and Lori Nicks and you can sure as hell hear Waddy Wachtel ripping it up on guitar!-one of the best guitarists might I add.  He's played with everyone from the Everly Brothers to Jackson Browne to the great Warren Zevon-and the  list goes on...
I can only imagine what the finished product of this song would sound like both live and on an album.

"'I'll be the passion, and you'll be the play...
I'll just almost hold you, if you just almost stay."

Oh, it is almost a tease to think that we need to wait a good five months before we can actually see if any of these songs will make it on the new album.  Its out of our hands Macsters.  All we can do now is dream and thats not a bad thing.  Afterall, her album is going to be called In Your Dreams.  Let's hope our dreams come true.

2007 Interview from CBS Sunday Morning

Sill shot from CBS Interview in 2007-gorgeous right?
Does anybody else out there watch the morning program CBS Sunday Morning?  It might seem like an "old lady" characteristic, but I love the show!  Yes, there are some segments in the program that may be somewhat of a bore, but the interview segment that usually appears towards the end of the show always  manages to be quite  interesting,

I guess you could say that I am a loyal CBS Sunday Morning fan, because I can remember this amazing interview with Stevie Nicks from back in 2007.  Now that I think of it, I most likely became a fan of the program after I saw this interview.  That Rita Braver sure knows the right questions to ask.  There is nothing worse than watching your idol being interviewed by a dummy. Might sound a bit harsh, but its true.  Good job Braver!

Take a peek!
CBS Sunday Morning Interview: 2007

The editing in this piece is what sends me over the edge.  They really used some great footage of Nicks throughout the years.  The editing from mark 9:38 to 10 minutes completely blows me away!  Its as though  we hopped on board a time travel machine that took us from the year 1976 to 2007 in a matter of seconds! The fabulous edit goes to show you how timeless Stevie Nicks truly is.

I hope you liked this interview.  It is definitely one of my all time favorites.  I bet you are all going to watch CBS Sunday Morning now aren't you?  Come on, I can't be the only one!

Sisters of the Moon: Live Performance in 1979

Yes!  It has happened again.  I was browsing for some Fleetwood Mac vids on Youtube, and came across a live performance that I have NEVER seen before.  I love when that happens!  Such a rush...

The audio and video is a little mismatched, but that obviously doesn't excuse it from being a performance that will leave you wanting more...

Sisters of the Moon: Tusk Tour'(Largo)-1979

Yes Stevie was great, but don't you love Buckingham's guitar solo both midway through the song as well as at the end?  Fantastic!

Ill be in search for additional rare, live performance throughout this week!

Stevie's New Single: Secret Love

Stevie Nicks' first studio album after 10 years!
Stevie Nicks will release a studio album after ten long years.  It will be called In Your Dreams, and will be released on May 3rd of this year.  Her single from this album has been leaked on Youtube, so OF COURSE I will be leaking it to you!

Little history lesson first though...

Being that Stevie Nicks is a prolific songwriter, she writes constantly.  She wrote this single, Secret Love, sometime around 1980 which leads me to believe that this song was meant to be on her 1981 solo album, Bella Donna.
I just love when Stevie brings back songs from demos that she wrote in the past.  It seems to bring a new level of meaning to the song.  What the song meant in the past, may not be what it means  at this point in her life....or perhaps it does?  -I guess only Stevie can answer that question.

So, I decided to let you all listen to the demo track that Nicks made in the late seventies before I let you listen to the "new and improved" track that will be officially released on February 3rd.

Secret Love Demo:(late seventies-1980)

And now...*drum roll*...after 30 years...
Secret Love: Off the upcoming album, In Your Dreams

This song only gives us a snippet of what we can expect on her album.  It is such a tease and I can't wait until May 3rd, when her new album is released!

Way to go Miss Nicks!  Once again, your voice has given me chills.

Time Stands Still

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in 1977

Silvers Springs is now thought of to be the song that "could have been", for it was never released on Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 album, Rumours.  The song was finally able to be shared with the world, when the band reunited in 1997 for The Dance Tour.

Here I have an audio clip of Silver Springs from a live concert held in 1977.   The band believed that Silver Springs was to be included on the album. You can hear Nicks' state within the first few seconds "This song will be on the new Fleetwood Mac album."  (Jeesh..thats a little eerie right?)  Little did Stevie know, that the next time she would sing this song would be twenty years later...

Silver Springs :Live 1977

Wow. Okay, give me a moment to pick my jaw up from the floor. How unbelievably awesome was that? (especially at mark 4:10 onward)

I can only imagine what the performance was like.  This song is much like the anthem song of the breakup between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.  It is almost as though Nicks is taunting Buckingham throughout the song. If you haven't already, please go back and listen to this clip at mark 4:10 onward.  I can almost feel the daggers that Stevie Nicks is throwing at Buckingham.  I mean, I'm not even Lindsey Buckingham and I feel scared!

The song was later performed in 1997 during The Dance Tour.  If you check out this video clip, you can see the chemistry that still exists between the two ex-lovers.  If the heartache can still be felt a good twenty years post breakup, I can only imagine what it was like during the live performance in 1977.

Silver Springs 1997: The Dance Tour

"Time casts a spell on you, but you won't forget me."  It all seems to take on a different meaning now, doesn't it? I mean, Stevie said herself "I'll follow you down, till the sound of my voice will haunt you."  Well, Nicks promised and delivered with this one.  Can you imagine breaking up with someone and having THIS song be written about you by your ex-lover?  That is pretty intense...

The song truly has haunted Buckingham for twenty years, and still does to this day. The song never died in 1977 when it was not included in the Rumours album. Silver Springs was simply waiting for its time to be born again.  It was only fitting that this song's rebirth would be when the band reunited in 1997.   This song goes to show that Fleetwood Mac can truly stand the test of time.  With this band, time stands still.

Oh, and before I leave, take a look at the two pictures in this blog.  Go ahead scroll to the top.....

Okay, now look at the picture below and tell me that the love is dead...

Never Before Seen 1976 Interview!

Fleetwood Mac: 1976
I found a Fleetwood Mac interview from 1976 that I have NEVER seen before.  I think I have seen almost every Mac video out there, so to stumble across this interview was a real treat for me!  Take a look...

Fleetwood Mac Dutch Interview: 1976

So, the info in the interview gives background on the band, which most people have already heard.  I guess I shouldn't be THAT excited about it, but again-any interview I haven't gotten a chance to see  is a good one in my eyes!  Who is that little girl with drummer Mick Fleetwood?  That is one of his daughters that he had with ex-wife, Jenny Boyd.

Can we talk about  how much I love Stevie's outfit? It looks to be a men's white button down shirt that she belted.-Awesome look!  Hmmmm...maybe Lindsey's shirt?  I think so....(speculation, speculation)

Later Macsters!  I need to hit the mall and shop that look...

All Better with Buckingham

Looks relaxed doesn't he?
Eww.  So this may be TMI, but my wisdom teeth were impacted which meant that it took WAY longer than expected to heal after surgery. They literally were growing sideways underneath my gums.   I would add a picture to give you guys an idea of what my crazy wisdoms were like, but that would be a bit much don't you think?  After all, this is a blog dedicated to Fleetwood Mac, not wisdom teeth!

With that said, I am back to deliver the Mac goods!  I stumbled across this footage months ago, but it was brought to my attention once more when I was recovering last week. What else would I watch to make myself feel better after surgery?

Certain tracks off of Lindsey Buckingham's various solo albums always seem to give off a relaxing vibe.  I sure needed a dose of relaxation last week (sometimes the meds I was given didn't quite kick in...ouch).

Take a Buckingham chill pill and watch/listen to these videos that helped me feel better!

Castaway Dreams (2007 Under the Skin Album)

Countdown (1992 Out of the Cradle Album)-I can't not comment about this performance!  The album version is quite "poppy" and the way in which he breaks down the song and vocal ranges is simply out of this world. Take a listen to the album version by clicking on this link.  Both versions are great, but the way in which he transforms the song from an upbeat and optimistic tone into a dark and almost desperate tone is what makes him an artist.  The chill factor hits me hard on this one!

Love Runs Deeper (2008 Gift of Screws Album)

You Do Or You Don't (1992  Out of the Cradle Album)-Music starts at the 30 second mark.

Those are the songs that replaced my feelings of "Ow" to feelings of "Ah.."  Seriously, who needs Vicodin when you have Buckingham?
